Sema Sarsour
Sema Sarsour was in the John Jay College Rising Scholars of Justice Program, formerly known as the Ronald H. Brown Law Prep Program, 2017-2020 cohort. She graduated John Jay College of Criminal Justice in May 2020 with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in English. Currently, Sema is a 1L at the City University of New York School of Law with the Haywood Burns Public Interest Merit Scholarship. She has secured a CUNY Law Public Interest Summer Grant to support her while interning with Brooklyn Defenders Service – Family Unit for the Summer 2021. After law school, Sema hopes to work in the area of human rights with a focus on defeating systemic injustices that harass, harm, and criminalize communities of color and immigrants through grassroot advocacy.
